Nichole & Richard

I’ve been to Philadelphia many, many times, but I never really played the tourist and photographed the city as a strange. So, needless to say, I was pretty excited when Nichole asked me to take engagement photos of her and her fiance Richard at various spots around that city that truly characterize the City of Brotherly Love.

First stop was the Art Museum and the famous Rocky stairs. Museums are stunning, but the columns can be a challenge to shoot photos in front of. The two laughed at me when I asked them to do the victory fist pump in the air a la Sylvester Stalone, but I was lucky enough to get a photo bomb of some random guy hoisting his arms in the air as the couple embraced. I can’t make this stuff up.

After a few laps up and down the stairs, we headed to Love Park, a popular attraction for tourists and skateboarders. While fighting the crowds for a photo of the couple in front of the LOVE sign a group of people dropped a white blanket in front of the sign and performed a full wedding service spontaneously in front of dozens of onlookers.

Nichole mentioned that there were some pretty unusual arches down by the Marriott hotel, so we headed over just in time to find some gorgeous side lighting begging me to do some cool shadow photography. We basically would jump into the pounding sun for five shots, jump out, cool down, and repeat. Those two were awesome. I barely saw them sweat.

We finished the afternoon by the waterfront in front of an old gazebo. I took some sunset shots and basically milked my memory card until we were out of sun.
