Just like any good parent, I always say that I love all my clients equally. But sometimes a couple comes along that is so similar to Allison and me that I just can’t help but love them a tiny bit more. Case in point, Jen and Dan. Much like me, the two of them are West Orange to the bone. They frequent the same haunts I do, know the same crazy people, and have an odd affinity for pro-wrestling. So when the two appeared at my place for a consultation, it was love at first sight.

Besides being from West Orange (which puts them at a higher level of cool than most people), Jen and Dan have this friendship that surpasses love and happiness. The two look nothing alike. He’s about a foot taller than me, and she’s about a foot shorter. But they have an admiration for each other that just exudes awesomeness any time you’re near them. He is the fun-loving type, and she is the bright, inspirational one, and when the two come together they are just a blast to be with.

Needless to say, the wedding was West Orange to the max. The ceremony took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Church (where my mother worked as a fifth grade teacher for longer than I can remember). Jen  and Dan said their vows in front of a congregation of friends and family while the pastor recited stories about how the two met and fell in love. After a brief interlude at the Van Vleck Gardens in Montclair for portraits, we headed off to the beautiful Wilshire Grand for a full-on West Orange romp. Dancing, drinking and plenty of fun music led to an evening of joy and merriment. It was just so much fun. And for the record, you can take the boy out of West Orange, but you can’t take the West Orange out of the boy.
