Greenpoint Loft Wedding Photos

Without a doubt, Lindsey and John’s wedding is one of my all-time favorites. Not because it was some giant, extravagant affair in a far off land, but because it was the complete opposite. The two shared vows in a cavernous, repurposed warehouse, located in Brooklyn on a nondescript street flanked by street art and funky boutique shops. The ceremony was simple and stunning, highlighted by a short exchange of rings and a perfect kiss. But first a little about Lindsey and John.

I met the couple at my home studio while I was knee deep building out the Headhunter’s Lounge. The two had been following me online and were well aware of my Tiki obsession and love for punk rock. John falls into the silent giant category. The guy is huge and tattooed and super kind. He loves the Pogues and is a huge music aficionado. But his biggest inspiration is Lindsey, a women with an infectious smile that laughs at his jokes (and puts up with some of mine), adores Tom Waits and lives life to have fun.

For her wedding day, Lindsey chose a flawless Allure Bridal gown that looked both retro and modern, while eschewing the big and flashy dresses that are all the rage. The two shared their first look on the roof, which overlooked Manhattan and Brooklyn. Not that the view mattered when John saw his bride. The two embraced as the chaos of the world flew by below them. At that moment, nothing mattered but the two hearts on that roof that were about to become one.

The reception was a blur of rock and roll and Guinness. The Dexter Lake Club Band lit up the dance floor as a whirlwind of friends and family celebrated in the joy of the day. The couple shared their first dance to Tom Wait’s “Jersey Girl” as family watched on, teary eyed and the cake cutting was nothing short of hilarious. At the end of the night, I grabbed the two for a quick portrait in the warehouse’s barren attic. It was a moment of peace amongst the madness and it is one of my favorite images from their big day. It’s not always easy to capture fun on digital film, but I’m pretty sure I succeeded at John and Lindsey’s wedding. I think I’ll let the photos speak for me.
